Hey guys!!This happened to a friend of a friend of my wife's, she sent her this e-mail. Jmax
I want to tell you a little story so you can learn from what happened to me. Here we go:
Friday the 30th, I had put Reagan and Sydney in the car and went to Sam's Club to do a little shopping. When we were done, and loaded, we went to the gas station at Sam's. I got my Sam's card, and credit card, got out and got gas (left the kids in the car of course). When I was finished, I got in the car and Reagan said " Mommy, there was a man in the car." I turned to him and (was afraid to look in the back in fear there was a man there with a gun) he said again, "Mommy, there WAS a man in the and he put something in the front seat." Well, the man didn't put something in the front seat, he stole my purse and wallet! The video footage showed that while I was putting the cards in the machine, they pulled up right next to the car, leaned out of the back seat, opened the passenger door grabbed the purse and drove off all while I was putting the cards in the machine. They didn't close the door all the way so I never felt the car shutter. The kids were too scared to say anything. Yes, I always look the doors when I'm alone, but not with the kids. When I lock the doors when them in there ( found this out this past Christmas) if they move around the van has a motion sensor and the alarm trips.
You guys are my friends. I don't want you to have to go thru what I am going thru right now. In less than 10 minutes, they had already used one of the cards. I called Chris while the attendant was calling the police so he could start to call and report the credit cards stolen and notify the bank. I NEVER have my checkbook with me, but I had to run by and give a copy of a check so they got that too. AND my Palm Pilot. The good thing is that they wanted my money and did nothing to my children. Reagan however, is having some problems. I have had to sleep with him the past 2 nights. He is having nightmares. He wants daddy to take him to the store so he can get me a new purse. That just makes me cry. Sydney, well, she just wants to get some swords and a bat and beat the bad men up if we see them again
Reagan has not brought it up today for the first time and neither are we so I hope everything can be a little more normal.
Pass this on please to your friends, brothers, their wives. This happened at 10am in Chattanooga. The officer said that it is happening more and more.
