Talk about a bad fishing trip. Well he has been out there for two days with scuba gear trying to find it, no luck. He has to take the scuba gear back mon. He got an under water metal detector today for a few hrs no luck. Any suggestions?

Have someone with a good sonar go and locate it. The metal detector won't do him any good unless he is right on it in which case he could probably see it.

Jason I have no idea how & here is the kicker. It was installed by a local dealer. I won't say which one, this may get legal. Mr.Wiskers, Live Liner, you want to pick up a few bucks tommrow or Mon.?

Is he gonna be out there tomorrow? If so give us a discription of the boat he will be in and the time he will be out. Anyone interested in using their sonar can PM for the location. All who has soner that they want to put to the test can meet and scan the area. I'm in. Do not post where on the river on line for good reason.

It is actually fun to search for an object on the bottom. It's like a fancy "Easter egg hunt".

I can assume that many of you are recalling the 12' airboat I found in 27' of water at Nickajack.

I wouldn't mind helping but I can't be out there for a few days. Does anyone know what part of the lake this is in?

Hey guys! Sweet of you to think of this 2jigs... thanks man.

Anybody ever been close to living in their pop-up? I am.

Some of you know me, and though I don't post often, I come by fairly regularly. Since I pulled the plug on the Fish Gypsies, my finances have been ~steadily improving~... that is to say, we don't have t spend our change weekly, but not exactly dining on steak.

Well, my 1982 Merc finally gave the ghost up, and I went for 5 weeks w/ no motor... that's dang near being bed-ridden for me... well, after the wife and I refinanced the house to consolidate our debt: paying off a wrather large credit card debt was part of the reason. So what did I do? I went an bought a new motor since they were nice enough to give me 1.9% until December. Guess what I bought? (much to Mrs. Psycho's dismay)

If I don't find this danged motor, I'll be askin' y'all for a good attorney, not good sonar. My skiff has decent sonar, and I thought I spotted it on day 1 (my boat was still there, and when my buddy showed up I stole his battery to look for it as his john boat's sonar ain't much).

My biggest problem is that Friday was my 1st "silt dive" since 1991, and my 1st dive since 1994... the combination of cold, diving solo, zero visablility and "rustiness" was simply too overwhelming for me to stay down long... heck, I used 600#'s of air in under 5 minutes. (that's not exactly efficient)

Our plan as evolved nicely, but my buddy that helped out Friday evening and all day yesterday has bailed on me... don't worry, he'll regret it later. hehe BUT, I'm without floatation currently... I'm going up to my father's to borrow his 'toon, and continue the search this AM... between the grappling hooks and metal detector, I believe we'll hit it today... but some decent sonar would sure help (dad's 'toon only has "blip" sonar). I have to go to my grandmother's memorial at 4:00, so I only have until about 3PM to search today. (yeah that's right, when it rains at the Walker household, it pours

)

Anyone that is willing to help get me back on the water and/or help my marrige last a little longer, I sure would graciously accept it. I don't have a bunch of change to pass out for helping or else I'd just buy another $3200 motor... I wish I could say "$1000 to whoever finds it"... but the reality is I'm doing well to offer up gas money.

My cell is 423.284.0011. God bless you if you can help me, and I'll not forget.

Come on CFFers. Any of you guys who want to test your sonar. I just spoke with Brad (Psychofisher). We are going to be in Wolftever starting about 10:00 AM until.... Come on out and give us some additional eyes. Look for a Party barge and my Proline CC.

"Big Easter Egg Hunt"

Which lake were you on? I will have my boat on Chick Friday morning. I can't come today and tomorrow evening I have a work tourny. Maybe Tuesday-Thursday in the evening if it is not raining. I do have the new Humminbird but not sure if it will find a motor. We can try it.

How deep is the water? I wonder if one of those magnets that has a handle on it, (used mostly for picking up nails, ect.) would latch on to it?emoScratch

if you know someone that has an aqua view under water camera, this may work water needs to be fairly clear, if its deep water in the river its most likley gone, sunk a whole boat in 55ft divers never could find it , good luck may have some luck with a big magnet.

HUGE thanks to LiveLiner... he's a true TN gentleman.... but we haven't found it yet.

It's in 12-18' of water. I tried to dive a few times Friday, but the visibility is zip at about 8', so I don't think the camera will help. However, it was cloudy Friday so who knows for sure on the camera.

I'll be back out in the AM.

But first, I'm building a BIG GIANT RAKE while a trout guide I run around with drives down from Johnson City with his scuba gear... he's promised to hold my hand in the scary dark water. hehe.

Don't know if they would be up for it, but the Sheriff's Office has a high dollar side scan sonar that they got a couple of years ago that might just do the trick for you.

I HAVE A SIDE SCAN THAT WORKS WELL HOWEVER IN 16' - 18' OF WATER MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE. IF IT WAS IN WATER IN LESS THAN 8' IT WOULD WORK VERY WELL. THE REASON THAT IT DOES NOT WORK IN DEEP WATER IS DUE TO THE ANGLE OF THE BEAM. IT DOES NOT POINT DOWN ON AN ANGLE TO SEE THE BOTTOM UNTIL IT IS FAR AWAY FROM THE BOAT. I CAN SEE UP TO 120' AWAY I DO NOT THINK THE DETAIL OF AN ENGINE LAYING FLAT ON THE BOTTOM WOULD SHOW UP IN THE EDGE OF THE BEAM THAT FAR AWAY. IN SHALLOW WATER, IT WOULD SEE THE OBJECT IN THE ANGLE OF THE BEAM.

I THINK PSYCHOFISHER COVERED IT, OUR PROBLEM WAS THAT WE NEEDED BETTER HOOKS. THE HOOK I WAS USING WOULD FLIP OVER WITH THE POINTS UP AND JUST SLIDE OVER EVERYTHING. I USED MY ANCHOR AND DO BELIEVE THAT HOW IT FELT AND HOW IT LOOKED ON SONAR IT WAS THE TARGET. I MARKED IT FOR A TRIP WITH BETTER HOOKS.

Any luck yesterday psycho_fisher?

I've got 3 divers (including myself) & 2 boats going today for a last-hoorah before I have to go back to work... my employer is understanding thus far, but I'm quite sure my work has stacked up to a near-unbareable (sp?) level by now.

The GIANT RAKE worked pretty well until the boat I borrowed (from my pop) flooded out... nothing like drifting aimlessly for an hour with 3 volunteers twiddling their thumbs.

pshcho fiher, If you do not find it today, shoot me a PM and I will help. I have had pretty good luck with under water camera in 20 FT water. You can't see far that deep but if you don't stir up the silt too bad you can see well enogh to find a motor if you have a general idea where it is. I also have a pretty good sonar that a motor should show up on.
The first chance I'll have to help will be Friday after 5 PM.
