Thought I`d say Howdy from San Antonio

I flew into Houston yesterday early morning. I picked up a car and got directions to Galveston and headed down for look around before heading to San An. Lots of damage but most of the main businesses seemed to be up and running. I didn`t realize it was such a major port. Took a bunch of pics and headed to San An.
I`m here for a International Foundation Employee Benefits Conference and so far so good ......sort of !!??
Anyway I went up and signed in and picked up some conference materials and took a little tour on my walk back to the hotel. Also stopped and had a great meal on the RiverWalk thingie they`ve got here. Not much of river ( a canal is more like it). Pretty cool overall and I`m kinda lookin` forward to some of the info we`ll be covering regarding retirement and health and welfare Benefits. Kinda goes hand in hand with BeetleSpins thread on the economy.
I`ve got a busy 3 days ahead and will post some pics and report when I get back next weekend.
Ya`ll have a good `un and leave a few for seed.!!

The Riverwalk is fun place to be. It is sort of an Oasis amidst a sea of downtown traffic.

Boy you`ve got that right Pete.....I thought Houston was bad....but this takes the cake. They had a Rock and Roll Marathon Run thru town yesterday.....what a mess. I`ll be doing the shuttle back to the convention center.
I haven`t seen the burger Joint yet.....ate at the County Line BBQ....smoked turkey and beef brisket.....really good.

Should be some great Tex-Mex chow down there as well. Will go good with a Dos Equiis or three, por favor....Have a good trip. It's going to be a good week to be someplace warm!

Got thrown out of Kelly's Pub on Riverwalk back in 1972 whn I was at Medina Annex, Lackland AFB. Great place!

You`re right Al...Hillbilly Boy bout got his arse run over waitin`to cross the street....a foot back from the curb ain`t far enough for the TexAss drivers. I actually left the overalls home.Brought the Dockers and decent shirts to match. I always try to represent Local# 102 in some sort of professional manner at the high fallutin` affairs. But I was lookin around at the crowd there at the convention center yesterday .and you could pick the labor trustees from the actuaries ,administrators, lawyers, investment type....so I decided I`d just break out the clean fairly new, nice jeans and be proud of who I am.Be one of the boys. About 7500 people here for this so who cares !!
Our actuary took me and our plan administrator to a fancy joint named Beudreaux`s for supper tonite and the food was pretty good but I won`t be back on my dime.
The river walk is pretty cool place to eat and some good party place if you want to do some drinkin`......must be about 50 or so places along the canal....in about a 1/2 mile. I`ll be lookin` for Sam`s before I leave Tonker....gotta half day to kill Wed. may Have to try Dos Equiss too John. May still be a Kellys still there Ronnie ...several Pub`s along the way.
