I just downloaded another software upgrade for my 1197c si. FREE. I can't tell you how happy I am with Humminbird that they keep updating the units - old models are kept up-to-date with the newest software improvements (as much as the older hardware will allow). And it's FREE. This customer-based mindset keeps me from worring about pumping big money into the units and then having the next model come out with the new features and leaving me behind. Remember, the 1198c si came out and replaced the 1197c si that I have. Not a problem!

They do this with a number of their units, not just the top-of-the-line models. Since I registered on their website, they even email me when there is a new update for my unit! FREE! I don't know if any other sonar manufacturer does this - if so, I haven't heard about it. Now THAT'S customer service. One more thing, when I had trolling motor interference, they sent me a.........FREE..........kit to install on the Min-Kota that completely eliminated the problem.

Just felt like I had to let everyone know about how a company treats their customers right. emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

Awesome. I need to register and see if there are any updates for my 798...I haven't got to get out and use it much yet but what I have used it I really love it!!! Thanks for the info Eric

800, 900 and 1100 Series Owners need to make sure to sign up for www.humminbirdselect.com for additional benefits too.

Humminbird works hard to keep your investment as current as it can with the limitation of the hardware used when it was current production.

Glad to hear the good report...Great American Company! That lovesthe products they build.

Lowrance does the same and you don't have to be registered. It is cool with updates because it almost like you purchased a new unit when they add stuff to it.

If you have any pull with Humminbird have them complete a Lakemaster program for Tennessee! They got a Alabama/Florida/Georgia map out but everything else is northern or midwestern.

LakeMaster will be expanding more regions in the future and adding more and more to the current regions. They are activily growing in all directions from their home base in Minnesota.

Navionics is adding lakes at breakneck speed, and those updates are available to customers immediately via Freshest Data on a daily basis - free for the first year.
