Well gang, tonight I know why I don't fish for a living. Last week Polo and I catch the heck out of them with the best five over 22 lbs and tonight I could only manage one small keeper that went 1.67 lbs.emoBang There was only 11 boats that weighed anything in and there was 57 entries so I guess there was a lot of them that blanked. Someone when I got there in the dark asked me if I had a boatload and when I said only had one small keeper. Two different guys said that was one more than they had. It was a tough night for most folks. Very hot and no current, water was very glassie. Our guy Cory, at the Sportsman Warehouse, won it with three weighing in at 7.92 lbs. and they paid out six places with fifth and sixth tied at I believe 6.95 lbs. Not very many fish weighed in at all. My big fish bite was never there and had to go to plan 'B' on bluffs and drops in the WT. I sure hope it is better Saturday in ours.emoCool Jmax

Judging from your report, as well as some others, the bite isn't very good right now. Maybe I need to come up with a plan BemoScratch for Saturday.

RE: Thurs. night dog fight results.

We caught two of ours deep and one 3# at about 9:30 in 6in of water, On a Craw in some grass. The rest were caught on Homemade Jigs and some on T-rigs. It was a little slow in the First hour, But some of the old spots came through. We caught 5 keepers total. This month I've fished three Dog Fights and placed 1,4,1. Wish every month was like this one. The bite is slow down with the water temps in the 90's most places.

Hey Jmax don't worry about it. The day after I talked to you I was on the water at sunrise and caught one keeper. It was like the Dead Sea to me. Nothing but skipjack and stripe jumping. I even went and picked up your secret weapon at the store and didn't get a nibble. Maybe next week.

I was at Grasshopper last night with the trolling motor on high looking for spots for Saturday. I boated 2 largemouths around 14" each and missed one on topwater in 2 hours. I was wondering how the dogfight went as I was not fishing to catch fish, just fishing hard enougth to find out if any lived there.

See you guys Satrurday!

Fisherpal, I think it will only take about 10 to 11 lbs unless someone catches a kicker or two. If you have five keepers I bet you will be in there. I may be wrong but with the water so much hotter and the current about null it is a tough bite right now. One of the guys last night told me of a dogfight that just happened I think he said out of Soddie that was won by under 4 lbs. We might should have done a night Tx. Well, it is all for a good cause and the fun of this one so it really doesn't matter. Let's just rag each other a lot on this one and have fun.emoTongue Jmax

RE: Thurs. night dog fight results.

Congrats Cory, it sounds like you are on them more consistently than any one else. Keep up the good work. If you want to give us some small bit of info about what pattern to fish we'd appreciate it. If not, that's okay.

The Fish Right now are moving From deep to deeper right now, and you must fish slow, any hump in about 25 foot of water with some kind of cover on it is the key. I fish a jig and T-rig in Brush pills That I put out last winter, Some Times it works some it don't. But if the fish don't bite in the brush fish all around thats sometimes better, because if there not at home it must be feeding time. Just fish what you have confidence in!!

Thanks Cory, I really appreciate the info. That is pretty deep but Jmax and I have been talking about where all of those fish that we were on have gone and I thought that they probably had gone deeper. Hopefully next week I'll get out some and look for them.
