Well, Jim and I headed up river in search of bigger fish this week. We stared out about 9am on a spawning flat but the water was still a little cool. There were a few just starting on bed but still a little early for this area. Water temp was about 64 there. We saw 1 MONSTER female making a bed, that would have easily gone 9 or 10 lbs, in about 3 ft of water. I hadnt been so exited to see a fish in a long time! We spent about 15 min trying to get this thing to bite, till we finally spooked it.
We ended up catching about 12 fish today all in 3-5ft of water. I caught all of mine on 7.5" grape shad T-rig worm and Jim caught all his on a watermelon brushhog c-rig. Jim had the big fish of the day with a nice male right at 3lbs.
Once again, the weather man got it wrong. It was cloudy with a breeze out of the west and never got over 70 degrees while we were out there. Was still a nice day to be on the water! emoSun
