I've had the itch for a new rifle for a while now, and my shoulder has been sore from carrying my old model 700 .30-06 up and down the mountains. After much deliberation, I settled on the Tikka T3 Lite Stainless. It was the smoothest action and the lightest rifle I looked at. I went with the 300 Win Mag. Now my shoulder wont hurt from carrying a heavy rifle, but it will hurt from pulling the trigger-lol! Seriously, they guarantee a 1" 3-shot group@ 100 yards, out of the box and mine did just that! I've never had a rifle shoot so well with factory ammo, right out of the box. I was shooting 180 grain Winchester Powermax ( because they were the cheapest rounds I saw). Also, The best price I could find on the gun anywhere was at Sportsman's Warehouse!! The gun comes with matching stainless rings, and an adjustable trigger (2-4lbs). I topped it off with leupold VX-I 3-9x40 in silver. If anyone is looking for a new rifle I would highly recomend taking a look at the Tikka's.

Tikka has made some fine guns for many years. They have made guns for Ithaca and others, they just didn't get the publicity.

Tikka is definitely good stuff. I'd love to have one in 300 as well. If SW had the best price either you didn't shop much or they mispriced it.

The Tikka T3 lite blued/syn was $539, I believe. And the T3 lite Stainless/syn was $599. I looked at the local spots and checked on line with gun broker.com and the cheapest I saw there was $599 on the gun I was able to buy SW. The reason I went up there was because they were selling Browning A-bolt medallion blued/ walnut for $499. I got there about 2 minutes too late or I would be giving a review of that gun in the 300 mag...that was about a $300 discount on that gun. I hate having things shipped...especially a gun.

That is definitely a killer price for the Tikka. Would be hard to beat for sure if you are against buying online. SW now has some local competition. Thank Academy for your deal.
You have a far better rifle in the Tikka than any Browning. Especially in th action and trigger area.

How bout some pics of the new deer slayer.

That is quite a deal! I could not have passed that one up either. Cheez was right. You would throw rocks at a Browning after owning a Tikka! Thats a world-wide top teir rifle and folks hunting dangerous game on the Safari swear by it.

Here ya go Cheez!

thats a beautiful sight! Churly what made you go with the 300 win mag?

#1from what I am reading, the army snipers are moving to the 300 from the 308. Bullet is more predictable
#2the 300 was actually about a quarter pound lighter rifle than the other calibers in the same gun, dont know why?
#3 I like knowing what I am going to hit is going down.
#4 I want to eventually make out west for mullies and elk, the 300 will have no trouble passing through at long range.
#5 Its a caliber I dont already own.....

Very pretty rifle. Tikka has always made a quality rifle but the used to be butt ugly. Now I see they got the looks down too. I've been in the market for a 300 for a little while now. I might just take a closer look at the Tikka. I have never had to track any of the 27 deer I have shot with my .308 but it is limited to it's effective range. The 300 will extend that range another couple hundred yards.

You made a good choice. I have hunted with a Tikka T3 in .243 for the last four years. It's a very accurate rifle with a smooth action. I love it!
