Spent my birthday weekend at Tims Ford Lake with my main man Nolan (also known as Lurker) and his wife. We got to get out and do a little bit of fishing outside of all the lazy lake lounging, CB-ing, and grilling.
We gave night fishing a shot Saturday night, but didn't do to well. I don't have a blacklight yet, and that cost me a couple of fish, as I didn't notice my line running off and didn't get the slack up in time.
We got up way too early this morning and intially set out for some rockfish. We were using 4 inch Storm Swimbaits, and saw action all over the main channel ledges. Didn't nail any rockfish, but Nolan picked up a nice bass. It was the first black bass my boat has ever caught at Tims, the monkey was off our back. We piddled around for a little while longer in that area missing a few fish, and never getting anything else in the boat.
We decided to troll some for some walleye on points down river (tips via churly). Unfortunately there was NO current, which discouraged me. I did end up picking up a 18-20 inch Flathead on a Fat Free Shad. Nothing else but that.
We moved onto some main lake points, and couldn't pick anything up there.
Nolan's wife gave us a call and told us the hotcakes and bacon was ready, so we got off the water as soon as we could. Not much of a report, and I still find that lake very difficult. Maybe a winter trip with Flip will remedy that for me!
