Hey there Kennesaw Ga. Porthos33 is telling it right. My brother in law lived on that lake his whole life and he took me for a few trips there. But if you've never fished Carters lake, not far north of Kennesaw, you should check it out. Not known for smallmouth, although they can be caught on the north east end, where the river feeds the lake, it is chuck full of great spotted bass and a large population of walleye. The scenery alone is worth the trip, as there are no houses or docks to spoil the view, only a few ramps and one marina on the entire lake. It's very deep and usually clear, I've caught bass fishing a Texas rig fifty feet deep. But if you're really hankering for smallies, the tail waters below Chickamauga or Nickajack or any dam on the Tennessee River will work for the next three or four weeks. When the dogwoods bloom, the smallmouths neck swells and their antlers have shed their fuzz and the fat girls are looking for a party. Oh yeah, and their hungry.
