TM cable

Needed some help. I had to put a new cable on my 24V Evinrude foot control TM & now can't seem to get the adjustment right. Do I make the adjustment in the head of the TM, or at the foot control. Either place I try seems to start to kink or bind the cable. Thanks in advance.

that`s one of the great ponderances of man.....I`ve changed quite a few of them and only way I ever got `em right was just keep foolin with it....your finally get it....but it may take a while...sorry... I know that aint what your want to hear..
usually most of the adjustmen is at the foot but like I said you usually got to fool with both ends sometimes

For one thing up at the head of the trolling motor you need to line up the small arrow on the half moon gear with the pinion gear arrow. You may not be able to see these arrows unless you wipe of the grease.

Also make sure the clevis in the foot pedal is not tight. The clevis is the piece that the cable threads thru (You'll see locknut make sure it is not tighted so much that the clevis cant move.
