I know a lot of folks may not want to hear this.
But I have my opinion.

Correct me please if my numbers are wrong.
TX coach 5 Million or so with the incentives.
AL coach 3 Million or so with the incentives.
Recruits - no problem.

TN-TN-TN.
What do we have or had or wish we had.

Why not pay someone with a "Big Name and proven History", let me repeat "Big Name and proven History" to back it up, the Big Dollars and put TN back on the map!
It has been awhile.

Just hiring a past alumni or a so-so, or a coach in training until he leaves, and paying big dollars does absolutely nothing except insult everyone and question the capabilities and credentials of the folks supposedly in charge of the Athletic Department.
TN deserves better than just someone trying to make a name for himself at the schools expense.
Just happened, did it not.

TN ends up being just another SEC school with an occassional upset of a powerhouse.(This past TN vs AL game if if if !!!).

Some of you will not want to hear this, BUT.
Why not tell/ask someone like Steve Spurier (a known winner) that we need help.
He thrives (and knows how) on bringing a college with Great football potential (TN) with a losing football programl up to speed.
Make it his worthwhile.
He is not getting any younger but would love that last chance (my opinion) to bring another great school with a potential to be National Champs back on the map.
Why not make Spurier the highest paid college coach.
Honor him with what he deserves.
He is a proven winner.
You will have recruits fighting to enroll at TN and play for a coach who believes in winning is everything (my opinion).
Why hire someone who will be happy to have a .500 winning record while paying him millions until he leaves for a better offer.

Lets hear it!!!

I am tired of our team just being another So So nobody.
We deserve better.

No big name coached wanted anything to do with what Kiffin had going in Knoxville. In 14 months he had already erased the integrity that Phil Fulmer put in place and instead filled the air with arrogance and immaturity. Lane Kiffin was a HORRIBLE hire for UT and now the Vol fans will finally see what the rest of the conference has been seeing all along. He was a joke, a fraud, and bad for your program. Let Dooley try his hand....you never know. He could have you back at the top before you know it

i believe they went out and tried to get the best Coach they could get. They went after several coaches and was turned down.Im sure they didnt say lets just go get someone for the least amount we can.
and as far as Spurrier goes why in the world would they go out and make him the highest paid in the NCAA,sure he did great at Fl. a 100 years ago,but why hasnt all the great talent went with him to SC,and why hasnt he won a couple of NC there. We got rid of one coach that had got left behind so we dont need another one.
Lets give the new ball coach coach a chance ans see what happens GO VOLS

my biggest philisophy Saban didnt get great overnight, Meyer didnt get great overnight the whole UT football program cant be fixed overnight. I back my team (vols) and welcome our new head coach. I dont pass judgement till I see what happens.

I would love to see Steve Spurrier and a black TN visor on our sidelines, but that won't happen I'm afraid. It is probably best to get a young energetic coach. Hated Kiffin's arrogance but he would have had TN within the top 5 with National Championship potential in a short time. I expect he will do the same at USC, if he can stay out of trouble.

My choice this round was the Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. He really looks good, and has done a great job taking over for Urban. A big problem UT has is a lack of money to offer these top coaches apparently. We are paying Fulmer $1.5mil for the next three years. We just paid the Kiffin crew a ton.

Glad we have a new coach. Hoping for the best. Know for sure the ticket prices will be cheap outside Neyland Stadium again next year, so I'll be there cheering them on with my daughter.

UT has the money. Kiffins crew was one of, if not the highest paid staffs ever in CFB. They all skipped out, so you don't have to pay them the remainder on their contacts. Money was not an object in this search. I am sure of that.

I personally feel Kiffin leaving is going to make Teen. better in the long run. College football has became the training ground for the NFL. It's no secret that to win NC'S you have to have the players but the secret being getting the type players who have the talent along with some drive to do succeed after football. It appeared to me that Kiffin could have cared less about a players character. Tennessee was heading down the Miami road on a runaway Lane Train.
I get the impression that Dooley wants to start building the tradition and respect back to the University. I feel we have lost this which was evident every time you turned the TV on. Like it or not ESPN has the power to influence Players and their Parents especially the type players we need to start building our program back. Tennessee was getting hammered by the media. Kiffin wanted to put us back into the limelight and he succeeded by allowing us to become the laughing stock of College football. Dooley because of his father will get the respect of the media along with the rest of the College football family. It will be up to him to build on this and so far after his introduction I'm not disappointed. I also believe in order to succeed the whole Tennessee family needs to circle the wagons and support our school 100%. I was getting fed up with all the internal bickering. Respect and integrity has to be earned and in order to get back to the top I believe these have to have top priority.
