Thursday I decided to try Ladd Landing and hit a couple of my old mainstay crappie holes. Well that didn't work out too well. The water was running and around 49 degrees but I could not find bait or fish. I did go down to the steam plant discharge and the water was a balmy 53 degrees but still no fish. Went home after only 3 hours cold and disappointed.

Yesterday I went back don to Shady Grove and put in. Water temp around 50 all day. My stretch with the good dock is loaded with fish.....however most are bass, catfish and drum. I did manage to catch 5 more nice crappie (must be my limit). I must have caught 30 bass in the 8-12 inch range mostly on the BPS shad in white with a green back. I also caught several catfish in the 1-2 lb range and a half dozen drum up to 4 lbs. I did catch a few small bluegill and 1 baby smallie.

The bait is mostly in 20' on the channel and 10' back in the creeks. Most of the bait I have found is stacked in the bigger creeks. The float and fly bite should get good as the water clears.
