I`m contemplating a new computer. When I bought my last one 4-5 years ago...there was talk about download movies and tranmitting to the Tv set . I figured it was a little early in the technology and didn`t consider it.
Now most decribe some kind of tuner built in .
My question is simple I guess ....can you buy one now and download to your computer and tranfer and play it on your HD TV preferrably wirelessly?? Also how can you work with your Directv to record shows to your computer like a DVR.
Lay it on me !

Snuffy, put an all in wonder video card in your computer and hook your cable up to your computer, download the movies or watch cable on your computer. Burn the movies to your DVD player/burner if you have one. Take the movie out of your burner and play it on your DVD player.

I`m wondering about the wireless stuff too. A lot of networking wireless offered.

Check the Slingboxes out. I am debating on getting the smaller box so I can send my computer's music to my home theatre. But it looks like you can get these do stream HD content and movies from your computer to your TV in any room.

hey snuffy the only downfall to the slingbox is that it doesn't transfer from your computer to your tv only tv to the computer. my advice is research the most you can read reviews on best buy about products before you buy. if you want a cheap hookup for your laptop to your tv you can use a standard dvi cable. hope i helped

I appreciate the info. I`m still researchin`.....lookin` at the HDTV`s and I think with the higher end stuff its possible to get to what I`m wanting to do.
I`m thinking I would like to be able to download a movie from some thing like netflix but dang sure don`t want to watch on a computer monitor if I`ve got nice big screen sittin` there. And I don`t want to fool with and probably couldn`t burn a DVD legally and plug it in. I`ll post if I get something figured out.
