tolling motor mounted transducer

I was wondering if anyone can give me a little bit more detail on how to route the transducer cable up trolling motor. I understand to cable tie up to the head unit but where to leave the 8 to 10 inches of slack at and where to run down the TM mount at is my question. If anyone has pix of theirs it would be greatly appreciated.
