Here are the lures used by the Top 10 finishers in the Costa FLW tournament held Friday & Saturday on Chickamauga. Most you'd predict, but there are a couple of curve balls in the mix. See them all here: http://bit.ly/2pcmpjj

7th Place Joe Thompson from Clayton, Ga. said with a smile, "I was throwing an underspin and I don't think the Tennessee guys understand what it will do."

Thanks Richard. So what you are saying is, start using more swim jigs lol.

I was surprised at the number of folks I watched fishing big jigs in super shallow water... but basically fishing them more like crank baits, versus actually jigging.

I took a friend yesterday and he had read that article or heard they were using swim jigs like cranks and he started throwing a bream pattern and had a hook up shortly after and continued to catch a few on it. He was just bringing it in and popping it from time to time.... It worked. He was using a 1/4 ounce jig with a rage craw trailer.

I guess you can believe SOME of what you read on the Internet. ;)

I guess so lol.

What's surprising to me is the success of a silent bait (swim jig) in such stained and rough water. I wonder how many were using rattles.

when you fish deep say around 20 feet what size swim bait should you use? I have seen guys use one that looks to be 7 or 8 inches.

It works SOOO good when they are in more of a chasing mood. I learned this last year just throwing a brush hog and swimming it through everything. The biggest thing that helped was was gearing down from a 7:1 gear ratio to a 6:3 ratio</p>
