Tough day at Watts Bar 11/24/06

Man it was tough out there today. Got kind of a late start and couldn't seem to get a striper in the boat. I also hadnt been able to find any of those shad head jigs locally so we were using ball jigs and we just stayed hung up. We figured if we couldn't do any good on the strippers nudge nudge we would fill up a cooler with skipjacks for tomorrow but that didnt work either I only caught one skipjack but he was good sized. I did however catch a 3 pound walleye on one of my jigs trying for the skipjacks. Anybody out there going catfishing tomorrow that wouldn't mind me borrowing some skippies? My dad is in town and I really want to get him on some big catfish. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

The stripers were slow for us on Thursday. We only caught 4 and had 3 pull off, Foodsaver. That's a nice pic of a sauger that you are holding up. Did you catch him at the wingwall? Looks like it from the photo. I don't know where you can buy the shadheads locally. I pour my own. They don't hang up nearly as often as the roundhead jigs do.emoGeezer

Nice sauger! I've heard that they are just as good eating as walleyes and I've had those. Have a friend that brings some home from Canada and shares them with some of use from time to time. From what I hear and what I've seen in pics Walleyes and Sauger are very much alike in their shape but the coloration is just a bit different.
