Tough rockfish morning with Gator - Friday - 111706

Boys, the rockfish were tough this morning. It took about 30 minutes for me to find them, but when we did, it was fun for about 1 1/2 hours. Gator and I landed 10 that weighed 125.3 pounds. They ranged from 10.1 to 17.1 pounds. We had 6 other big fish pull off near or at the boat. TVA was running about 45,000 CFS.

I just can't understand why Fat Albert can't catch any fish.emoScratch Gator didn't have any trouble hooking and landing these fish at all. He caught the biggest one, but I caught a few more numbers than he. We had 2 doubles on this morning. His first fish was 17.1 and at the same time, I landed a 15.7 pound striper. Boy what fun! The other double that we had were exactly the same weight 10.7 each. We quit at 9:00 AM. Fish were caught on 3/4 ounce jigs with plastic trailers. Guys I tell you that the drumking is also the stripper king. I think he can sense those big ole boys. It was pure fun this morning. Thanks again drumking for the fine trip.

No spillgates were running, but WB was running the turbines flat-out. Each drift lasted about 3-4 minutes.

After our stripper trip I went straight way to Sportsman Warehouse and bought bigger line...  You ain't going to believe what I found out about my two rods I was fishing with up there..... 10 pd test...yeah, yeah, I know I was trying to give them a fighting chance... I will do better next time... GLAD YOU ALL HAD A GREAT TIME...  Gator, looked like he was scuba diving.  Was that how he was catching'um???

Albert... your gonna have to get your stuff together and get back out there and put a whuppin` on DK and MB or your gonna be in for a long winter.....make `em give you some respect....it just ain`t right ...we`ll have to hear about you winding Dk`s fish in and MB posting them pics of those whopper largemouth and both of `em talkin` trash....You may have to drop them PJs and get your shorts back on to get your MOJO back !!!

Boy, I'd love to have such a tough day fishing. The only tough thing about catching so many HUGE Strippers is your arms being worn out. Thanks for the great pictures and report.

That's what I was talking about Beebasser. Those fish were tough on us old guys. My arms hurt on every one. LOL

Snuffy, if Fat Albert ever catches a fish, we will have a record number of posts here.emoBigsmile emoBigsmile Wait a minute! Seems to me that he did catch a 2" bluegill this past summer. Mr. DK, have you ever fished for those big ole stripe at or below the ft loudon dam? We shocked up a pile of those things about three weeks ago, just below the dam. Sounds like you have what they wanted the other day. were you below the watts bar dam, pictures looked like you were. Have another good day "fishing".

Snuffy and 2jigs, thanks for jumping to my defense and defending my honor.  You all are gentlemen and scholars.  Their day will come and it probably will not be too long off.  I will say this, under the PJ's I did have on my shorts, which BTW I usually wear year round...I may have to take them off and wash them soon.  I really can't get on DK & MB too much cause they are really good friends...They are like brothers to me.  I will however get even with them shortly.  Their days are coming.  Between the 3 of us all the knowledge of angling is under them heads.  Scary ain't it?   Dhaun came to my defense the other day for which I am grateful.

Awsome!!! I can not wait to get up there and give it a shot next Friday morning. I am going to give the bucks a break for one day. I have a friend from Florida coming up to try his hand at rockfish instead of redfish. I sure hope he gets his arms stretched out a little.
