I believe you can fish in the BFL with your parents signed permission. But my advice would be to stay away from all that until your a little older.Fish club tournys and dog fights with people you know you`ll have plenty of time to fish bigger tournys when your a little older. I think alot of the boaters would feel more comfortable with someone a little older in their boats. It`s good to see a young man intrested in fishing Good luck

Caleb, if you've got game and think you want to do it, then you should go fish with some of the guys that fish those tournaments and see what they tell you- after you fish with them. Be willing to take some criticism and some tough love. Be up front and tell them your desire. I don't think all of them would shun you, but Gray Bomber is giving you solid advice. If you KNOW you can, and want to, set a goal. Say, if you win two or three dogfights in a month, then you'll enter some other tx's.
I thought I was a golfing "God" when I was 15 yrs old. Played all over the country at great expense to my family who didn't have money... I remember my 2nd or 3rd tx in Texas... I called home. Dad asked how I was doing on my first day. I said, "Great! I shot two under!!!!" He asked "What place are you in?" And my reply was "tied for 14th. The second day, I shot 1 under and was -3 for the tx. Was in 32 place and went home realizing that I needed to get more experience. Just my .02 cents.
What Gray Bomber is saying is fish the action you can get there locally. Fish with as many people as you can that are tx anglers. Get some more experience under your belt. When you hit High School, give it a run then if you still want to. But always hold on to your dream and NEVER EVER let anyone shake your desire. Even me and Gray Bomber. Good luck!

I'm sure my nonboats didn't like having a 15yearold Boater,, It doesn't matter how the boaters feel.

If you can talk your parents in to it, go for it. I think the BFL's are a great way to learn lakes you might not other wise get to see. And fish with guys who can realy teach you somthing. Just rember, they are fishing for a little bit of $$$ & they'er not going to care how you come out, or if you learn anything at all. Good thing to rember, you got two eyes & one mouth.

I think in alot of ways your a better fishermen when your younger & can think outside of the box so to speak. Just (if you haven't already) start you a fishing log. Each tourny. do a small report. As long as you learn from it & gain exp., no harm done & your better off for it, good luck.

My advice: get a job. This stuff gets pretty expensive. the BFL are gonna be real expensive especially if you plan on going out of town and practicing on those lakes. Have you fished any Txs before? If not, find a local dogfight and start there... Good luck, fish hard, and save your money!!!

Oh yeah, and one last piece of advice...You are young but in a few years the females will become more attractive...Take my advice...Avoid them at all cost!! They will take away a young mans killer instinct!!!

HEHEHE!!!!

You're dead on about the woman Churly!! Killed my fishing time in high school, and I'm just now recovering !!!! LOL!!

Hey guys the woman thing I have under control. There some cute ones but my fishing habit and a women's expenses do not mix. I would love to enter a dog the problem is I do not own a boat so i rely on maps. I have the state tourney on the 29 lakes off limits on the 16 need to pre fish there. Back on subject if anyone doesn't mind having me in there boat on a dog fight. I will take the challenge. If any of the other trails need any help on the tourneys either i don't mind helping there either.

Tight lines,
Caleb

My advice is there is a Cleveland Jr. Bass club In Cleveland and join it . It is for kids your age up to 17. They fish some small local lakes and also some of the area lakes out of Boats that other fishermen supply. If you can finish high enough you can fish a state Tx. for a state championship. From there you can go on to a national championship through either the FLW or BASS. The Club has had several state Champions and there is several real good fishermen in the club and I know this because I take my boat as much as possible. This is where I would start and if you do good then get some experince and move up. Fishing something like the BFL is really wasting your time and it cost alot to fish it. I know some pretty good fishermen that have 20 plus years experince that don,t always do that well. I'm not trying to discourage you but suggesting to you to get some experince on the water first. If you are interested in the Jr. club PM me amd I wiil get you in touch with the right people.
