Man, tournament morning was clear & cool with a crisp north wind. I was digging out my rainsuit for the morning ride! We knew there were some adjustments we were going to have to make with the front moving thru. Headed to a grass flat that had held fish earlier in the week & made a pass with shakey head & 10" worm. Got nothing in those 30 min. Felt the fish might want something a little smaller & black [cause black always works good for me after a front] Tied on the Zorro Whiplash & hung a black craw on it & had a fish pick it up on the 2nd cast. Swung & missed! But 2 cast later, get our 1st keeper. Move down the grass line a little further & get a mushy feeling. Swung on it & bow up real good. After a strong fight, bring a 7.87 to the well. Brent switches to the Whiplash & blk/blue craw & gets our 3rd keeper. Then he gets a 3# & about 12 I get our 5th keeper, but 2 of them are under 2#. Have a dry spell for an hour or so, head to a grass point with about 30 min. left & Brent gets a 3.25 to cull up some & soon after gets a 2# to get us a few more ounces. Ended up 3rd with 18.62# with 2nd biggest fish behind Camp & Hatcher's monster. We were real pleased with our day as Sept. has been a tough tourney for us in the past. Caught all our fish around grass with the Whiplash & craw.
Congrats to Camp & Hatcher for the win & Simpson & Daniels for 2nd, & all the top finishers for getting the job done on what proved to be the toughest CBA this season!
