no offense to Wild Game Innovations camera folks, but in general, those cams don't last long and customer service is spotty at best. I have used most brands and I can get 3-4 months at minimum on a set of alkaline batteries. There is only one commercially marketed cam that is not made over seas and it is too expensive for the common man to use. Each year, when the new cams come out, I read as many reviews as I can to see which ones are performing the best. In general, I have had real good luck with Covert brand, the brownings, and the primos truth series. Ive got some two year old stealths that are doing great as well.
to answer your questions; on alkaline batteries, I try to get a decent name brand of batteries. I don't expect to have to change out batteries for at least 2 months, but usually way longer than that. and I try not check cams too much, as I don't want to spook any mature deer in the area. so I would go check no more than every 2 weeks. these are the reasons that I have moved to the celluluar cams. They cost more for sure but, I have 3 farms in KY that are spread out and two more in TN, 100 miles apart. I'm am currently running 8 cellular cams spread across the properties and am running lithium batteries. with this set up, I can get at least two months battery life, and I get hundreds of pics every day on my cell phone. These cams are a savings to me as it would take me 2 days to travel and pull cards on that many cameras, and I am not bumping deer off of my hunting areas.
another big tip on cams; get black flash cams. regular IR cams give a red glow and especially this year, I have noticed mature bucks avoiding IR flash cameras. but with black flash, they are oblivious. good luck and share pics if you get any good ones.
