Trail cam help

Ok guys. We've had a Moultrie Spy Cam D-40 and never had much luck with it holding battery life and getting pictures. We've had it set up for 2 weeks on the lease and just came back with it with NO PICTURES on it. Trouble is there's lay downs all over in front of it within 10 yards.

Soooo... I need some recommendations on something better to replace this piece of crap. Also would like recommendations on good ones from different price ranges depending if we want to get more than one. Any help is appreciated. The boy puts a lot of work in everything he does. Want him to have better success with this.

Have you called the manufacturer about this? That's where I'd start before junking it and buying another.
