I have never really used trailer hooks on my spinnerbaits,But I have decieded to try them.Picked a pack up but i`m not 100% sure on how to add them on.I cut a small piece of the plastic tube that came with them,Put the hook on then added the tube.Problem is the tube comes off the hook fairly easy.I`m` sure there`s a simple way to do this i`m just not smart enough to know how.Maybe some of you guys can tell me what i`m doing wrong?

put the band over the eye of the trailer hook and stick the barbed end of the factory hook through the trailer hook loop. if you cant figure it out, ill rig one up and take a pic for ya. I use them sometimes, but for me, most of the time there more trouble than there worth. good luck with them!

I always thread the small tube onto the hook through the hole in it. it takes some pressure to thread it on but it lets the hook hang free, reeling it through the water will make the trailer hook hang behind the spinnerbait hook inline like it should.I push the small tube down so that the trailer hook hangs directly on the bottom of the spinnerbait hook and can't move toward the barb. You can also cut the tube in 2 pieces so there is a piece on either side and the trailer hook can't slide either way. emoCool

This way is right. there should be a picture or drawing on the paper in the pack. This way holds the hook in place where it is supposed to be. Any other way will the hook to turn aroung and get tangled in the skirt.

At the Southern Challenge, the co-angler winner was Bryan Talmadge. He does some of our weigh-ins for the Weekender series and he did our last one at Dale Hollow. I got a chance to speak to him and he said his first partner was Rowland, the second was Van Dam. He was fishing a spinner bait and Van Dam told him never to fish a spinner without a trailer on his spinner baits, unless you are fishing deep grass. Bryan said when Van Dam tells you to do something, you do it. He said he would have lost a few bass had he not used the trailer. Changed all my spinners last weekend!

I always fish a trailer hook. I have caught many fish while fishing a spinnerbait/buzzbait only to find out when I get it to the boat that it is hooked by the trailer hook. I would not have caught those fish had I not had one on.

I put a small piece of tubing on the hook first ,then the hook, followed by another piece of tubing. The hook needs to be able to move in order to get the best hook up ratio. I saw Kevin Van Dam on Bass Pro Outdoor World say this same exact thing. Who are we to argue? Anyway, my two cents.
