Quick question: My trailer lights are acting kind of odd. When I have my lights on, the running lights work fine. But when I brake, the brake lights don't kick on. I hooked my truck up to another trailer and the brake lights work fine, so I know it's on my trailer. Think it's something loose or do I need a new wire set up?

Sound like a wiring issue to me. Check your power for the brake lamp behind your plug on your trailer, then check power and ground for brake at your brake lamp on your trailer. If all ok, check your bulbs and sockets.

You can purchase a plug in tester for the harness. More than likely, it is a grounding issue with the brake wiring. As Nitro and Greg said check for corrosion both in the plug, and the sockets. An aerosol electronics cleaner can remove any corrosion.

I say: "If you're working on trailer lights you better have a test light." </p>

Good news. Easiest fix possible: new bulbs. Hahaha. Changed them just a few months ago. Guess they burn out faster when they get wet. Embarrassingly easy solution.
