Need tires for the trailer to my Tracker. Any suggestions on what and where to get? The wear on them is strange (to me). It seems that the outer parts are worn and the middle isn't. Is this normal wear for a boat trailer or is there a problem that I need to have checked? I take the boat and trailer in for service every year and have never noticed this before. Am I maybe over or under inflating?

Cheap tires? Towmaster Bias Ply maybe. They do wear funny and Tracker isnt know for their axles.

PM what size and I'll reply on what you need to do....

Thanks Taylor.

Billy - I'd like to have some decent tires on it. It still has the original tires. Guess they've lasted a pretty good while; bought new in '06.

Yeah my TX 18 I bought from M&M Marine (back in those days) and had terrible help from Brian (the sales man-who somehow may still be there)
had terrible tire wear and had to have the axle tweaked into shape by Trenton Tire in Trenton(of course) Because Brian and their mechanic (Wes) wouldn't do crap about it, even though I bought it new!

I've pulled a Tracker all over the place and I've never had any issues with the the Carlilse Tires, on it. I've always heard under inflation caused outer wear on both sides of the tire and over inflation causes excessive wear on the middle part. NTB can get them and at a fair price. Not sure of your budget but I replaced both wheels and the spare, with a galvanized spoke wheel. The painted whites had some bad rust spots. My axle looks like a banana but doesn't seem to be causing any problems.

Thanks for the input gents.

Ron - yea, Brian and Wes are still at Island Cove. I've not spoken to them about this issue. They normally take pretty good care of servicing my motor and also installed my 798 for me. The biggest problem I have with going there is that seeing the Nitro Z7 makes me want to sign the papers and bring it home! lol.

Atleast you wouldn't have to worry about the trailer tires for a couple years!

TOMMY 20RXD - 3/23/2012 11:19 AM CALL BEST ONE TIRES AND ASK FOR CHRIS, THEY DO SELL CARLILES TIRES.

Old Carisle, great tire...New Carisle = JUNK! Poor warranty and piss poor customer service. Goodyears are limited now due to them getting away from the trailer end of things but if you can find a set, get them!

Best thing going right now is the Trail America Series Radial. Great price and built right. We havent seen any issues out of these yet and our customers are some of the pickest there is.

Hyde's automotive is another place you can try. Allen the owner is an angler and fishes the CBA as well as sponsors it. He can pop one on quickly and get you just about anything out there. He got me a white wall Goodyear a couple weeks ago and no one else could. emoThumbsup Jmax

I have Carlilse tires on both boats and panicked when I read BM's comment. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and can't find a brand that hasn't had some very serious issues. I'm not here to promote one brand, over another. The reason most/all tire companies bow up on blow outs, is they feel the tire was under inflated and that caused the problem. Ckeck your tire manufacturers recommendations but I think they will tell you to keep tires inflated to the maximum pressure. I haven't been running mine that way but will in the future. The heavier the load, the more critical, correct tire pressure is, it seems. Trailer tires don't always go quietly, when they fail and can cause a lot of damage.
