I recently purchased the Humminbird 798ciSi. Where would you guy prefer the transducer placed. My boat came with the little lowrance 4x witha transom mount. Would you move the lowrance transducer to the trolling motor and put the humminbird at the transom or viceversa. I have a tracker proteam 175 aluminum. Thanks

also maybe take into consideration ,do you spend more time searching with the t/motor or big motor? i'm a lowrance fan,but idealy save your money to add another h-bird,it is so much easier to run the same unit front and rear,

The side image transducer will not work where the old one was. Wait and call hummingbird tech services with model of your boat they will tell you where to place the transducer you are skimming and it must be higher. I had a TX17 bass tracker with a merc 90 and had two transducer break off. they told me to mount on left rear and it was 5 inches up from bottom of boat. I tried a thru hull and had dead center but at high speed the prop would suck air. Keep in mind you will lose signal at higer speed with it mounted so high, but at 6 mph you need to tilt motor to see both sides. If you have a jack plate mount it on lower jackplate dead center you will have better side imaages and hih speed signal. Hopes this helps you out. Once done you will enjoy it.
