Transducer question????

Can you mount a metal bracket transducer to an aluminum boat. A buddy told me you should use plasctic on aluminum hulls. He used some big electrical term that was over my head. Is this true? I just bought a new Lowrance and have never head of anything like this. Is that just talk or is there any truth to it THanks

I ran a piece of plastic aboiut 3/8 of an inch thick and about 4 inches wide all the way down the back of the transom and fasten it to the top of the transom so you don't have and holes below the water line.

My transducer mount is aluminum and will not cause galvanic reactions on my aluminum boat. Use stainless steel hardware and no problems either.

I used a piece of plastic glued to the transom with epoxy. It has been working great for years. No holes in your transom, and no galvanic reactions! I actually used a piece of old cutting board.
