i mounted a lowrance 135x on my boat and iwant to epoxy the transducer inside the hull.I did it once and it didnt read correctly all it would do is flash .someone said it had air bubbles in the epoxy . do i need to sand the fiberglass before i epoxy it or doesit sound like the transducer is bad. do i need to remove the gas tank and mount it under it. its a 2100 super vee bumble bee. thanks luke

From what I have read on the net it is very difficult to do. You have to find a flat level spot, and yes rough the surface, and pour just the right amount of goo over/around/under it. If you have bubbles under it it will not read right from what I have read. Have you thought about a thru hull? I know it sounds scary but I helpped my dad install one on his house boat. Just let the silicone cure and you will be good. Also I have read on here guys epoxy them to the transom, no screws. Google it I found several forums discussions on the subject. Hope this helps!! emoToast

Forgot to mention, where you install it should be in contact with water when in use.

hey thanks man. i was told also to just hang it over the side just to see if the transducer was working ,so i broke the epoxy loose and tried it. and its still showing the same, so i think the trans is bad. borrowed another from a guy i work with and gonna try it. oh yeah i hooked it up to the power and transducer on my lcx 20 and it read fine. thanks.
