trim cylinder ?

a freind of mine has a 1987 merc 150 with the trim mounted in the transom brackets.it has 2 trim rams and a 1 tilt ram the motor goes up and down fine but when it gets to the trim rods it ont go down any further unless u unscrew the manual valve .is there any ck valves that would keep them from going in.

May be low of fluid. Have you check the fluid level? It uses ATF. Raise it all the way up and flip up the trailer lever and trim down lightly to contact it. Remove the fill plug SLOWLY on the left side of the engine on the transom bracket. Fluid should be visible if full. If foamy let it sit for about 10 minutes and then top off.

we have trimed it up and filled it up with fluid it woks fine till it gets to the 2 rods that stick out and it wont go down any further as if the 2 rods are stuck.you can unscrew the manual release plug and they will go back in thighten the plug back up and rim motor up and down again same thing happens gets to the rods and wont go no further the motor is trying to force the rods in but they wont budge.he may have had the trim motor off does it need to go back on in a certain direction as in holes in the housing lineing up with holes in the pump.

The wiring coming out of the motor needs to go towards the transom. Did it start this after he removed the motor?

yes it did,i didnt pay to much attention to the way the motor sit.i will be going to look at it again this evening.
