I just purchased a 06 Triton TR20X and have noticed a problem with the boat coming out of the hole with a hard L tilt and then when I'm running at wide open trottle and trimmed up it really chimes on the water and I have to trim it way back to keep it under control. I was just wondering if this was normal or if I needed to adjust something. It has a mercury optimax 225. The speedometer doesn't work, but the GPS shows 56-60 mph when it starts rocking back and forth really hard. Any ideas would be helpful.

dont drive it in a straight line try to go at angles they drive like a bullet ive owned both you will get the feel after a little while good luck

Triton chinewalks bad I have an 03 tr20 and it will walk pretty good if i let it. Mine comes out of the hole with a tilt to the right I thought it was just the fat driver.
:)
Go to www.bassboatcentral.com and in the forum there is a great section about triton chinewalking

I have an 07 20xhp and it leans too... the chinewalk will be fixed with seat time. My partner still cant drive mine at wide open and hes been in the seat for several hours.

While its true a Triton will chine walk, a properly set up Triton is much easier to drive

Spend some time setting your boat up right

To a point the higher the engine the less the chine walk
raise your engine a little at a time until you find the sweet spot that your Triton wants
Make sure you watch your water pressure at all times

Different props will affect how the boat handles as well
Your boat may like a 4 blade Trophy or a 3 blade Tempest.
Each one handles the bow differently

Make sure everything is tight in the steering. even a little play can make the boat dangerous

even the load distribution in the boat can affect its handling

I love my Triton but it wasnt a boat I could just get in and drive
It takes seat time and a proper set up
I had to work at it to get it to run good

I have a 2001 TR20 with a 200 Yamaha and I dont have any tilt coming out of the hole. I dont have much chine walk either, but I am not getting it fully on the pad with the 200. Runs mid to upper 60's via GPS. I do get a gallop when turning left (not right for some reason), and I have no clue why.

I put a250hpdi hull shot from hell now the opti never came out of the Hole good specially if it was loaded down.. But mine would GPS 74 225 opti.

plus #1! raise your motor until your water pressure drops than lower it back down one notch. the higher the better, also you will get a lot more speed out of your boat. its like learning to ride a bicycle, you have to learn to drive at speed.
