On one side of my trailer the tail light and side lights will not work..... the brake and blinker works. The other side works fine.
I have checked the grounds and all wires seem to be connected.
Can't seem to find the problem.....has anybody had this happen If so how did you fix it?

Thanks......

If its just the running lights, then its a ground issue. All running lights connect Brown (hot) to Black. White should go to the frame.
Main thing would to be sure your getting a good ground. Start at the truck pig tail and work to the back of the trailer. Sometimes those connection look good but may be corroded a bit.

I agree - sounds like a ground problem. I had something similar happen. I removed the wire and sanded the rust off the connector and frame - BINGO!

Notice the diagram shows all running lights grounded to the frame and thier HOT wires to the hot feed from the harness.

Yellow and Green are turns. There is a ground wire on your rear tail lights also. Either to the frame or under a bolt that holds the light onto the bracket. If I have time, I'll Flip Video my guys wiring up 2 of the most common light systems on boat trailers next week.

Not sure what truck you own but Fords have 2 fuses for trailering. At-least mine does and our 250s at work. But if one side is working and the other isn't, I'm leaning towards a blow light (lights) or bad ground. Most likely the ground.

Know what....Look for a bad connection on the running light hot wires too! Come to think of it, I had a drop tongue on my Stratos that did that and it drove me nuts for about and hour. I had a hot wire just barley touching! It came barely loose when I dropped the tongue one day.

I have a Yukon XL and both tail lights work.....it just seemed odd that all the running lights when out at one time.
If one running light goes out do all go out?

Ground issue if they all went out. Check the white wire at the plug. It should be connected to the trailer tongue or frame. ;) Check those fuses also.

Let me know if you cant get it. Maybe you can pull it to Soddy one day after 3:30 and I'll try to help ya out.

On my Triton I have a removable tongue
The way I had to fix my ground issue was to extend the ground wire until i could ground it to the frame beyond the tongue

I just run another wire through the tongue and grounded it to the solid frame

It fixed my problem

hope you get the problem fix. my brakes locked up on my trailor and had to cut the wire and bleed off the line by hand. have not connected it back yet. good diagram this could help me.

After checking all the grounds and still not working......I pulled the wires out of the hard plastic flex and found the power wire was cut. Spliced if back together and now they work.

Thanks for everyones help......

Thats is the most aggrivating and least common problem to have! Like I said above...that issue got me and had me going nuts. Glad you found it!
