Put in at PC and stayed in the creek (forgot my jacket). Water temp was 59F but got down 57 the shallower I got (odd to me). Water was a foot high (el. 677) muddy/stained and there was near zero wind until noon. Ramp had a half dozen vehicles. Only one person I saw crappie fishing. Had the lake mostly to ourselves. Fished three hours and very disappointed with one keeper...and a 5-6lb catfish on a square bill of all things. Fished square bill in deeper water and jig in the flats. Very few bites or nibbles. Given the overcast dark skies, and the impending rain, I really expected to have a good day. Noticed much more surface activity compared to last week from bream/stripe and other small fish. Even saw a couple of pools of bait fish but so skittish I couldn’t cast a blade into them.

Thanks for the report. Here lately I call it a good trip if I can get a keeper. Unexpected for this time of year. See you on the water......Jim

Yep! Since last week's deluge it has been dismal out there! :(

Looks like we could be looking at more significant rain over Thurs thru Sun too. I just hope we avoid those huge rains in the middle of spring we had last year where the lake was pulling at 100 cfs plus. Has to hard for new growth grass to hold up under that kind of current.
