Any of you guys installed your own foot tray? I did it on my old Nitro but I am looking to put one on the Triton TR186 I just bought.

Anyone know if I will run into any issues doing this myself?

Any advice is appreciated.

Just go for it! I hate fishing without them and would never own a boat without one. I think the ranger is the only boat that you have to deal with all the foam. Before you cut make sure you won't be cutting wires underneath.

I have installed several comfort troll foot pedal trays. I have a metal template for those. I usually place them 14 inches from the pole hole to the back of the tray. Cut the hole smaller than you need and sand it until it fits. I would also use fiberglass resin on the raw material where you made the cut. Go slow and take your time. The big thing is make sure the pattern is straight before you start cutting. I have seen them that look like a drunk installed them.

Measure, measure, and then measure again. Create cardboard template, that is the size of the actual outside of the box - NOT THE OVERALL. Pull string from rear of boat, all the way to the front, using the seat pedestal holes for reference. You want to center everything. Screw down cardboard with 4 small screws in the "Cutout" area. Drill each corner with 1/4, then, 3/8, then 1/2 drills. Insert fine tooth jigsaw, and go slow. Use a shop vac to keep dust down.
