How long should they last? I have two 4 yr old DEKA AGM-27 that appear to be lazy at the end of an 8-hour tournament. Any thoughts? This is the first 24-volt trolling motor that I have used and really don't know what to expect.

Thanks,
KJ

I had some deka batteries in my boat and they was doing the same thing. They was about 5 1/2 years old so i just went ahead and replaced them. Go to tnt battery in cleaveland you can get batterirs for half the price! I got 2 new trolling batteries for $100 !!!

I would think that 4 years is about the average life span, maybe just a tad short. I seen several not last that long, and several last longer. I've had two of those wal-mart marine batteries that didn't even make it thur the second year. Then a buddy of mine had the same wally world battery that lasted 8 years according to the sticker on it.

I'm in agreement 4 years is about the life of a trolling motor battery

However battery life is dependent on many things, including simple things like did you use tap water or distilled water to fill it
How do you charge it? do you ever let it sit over night before charging it? things like that

At 4 years I would simply be considering replacing them already
The last thing I want is weak batteries at the end of a long day of fishing or during a tournament.

I don't buy the most expensive batteries but I don't buy junk
When I have a question about a battery's conditioning, I test them and replace them both if either is lacking

I'm currently on 3+ years on a set of two batteries that I bought at Inerstate. I think they were from their refurbished line and were $35-$50 each. No problems yet even on 8 hour plus tourneys, still strong even though I sometimes don't get them on charge until next day. I probably use them 25 times per year. So, I think yours have done fairly well.
