The trolling motor on my boat has become loose. It seems that it is held on the boat with rubber isolators. 2 of them have broken and I can't run my motor until I get replacements. My question is do I have to have them or can it just be bolted right to the bow? Also who in town would most likely have them?

Nichols has the motor guide isolator bolts and yes you need them not just bolt it down. The isolator bolts are like a spring that give alittle and bolting it down with bolts won't give and may crack your fiberglass if you hit something with your trolling motor.

never liked the isolaters myself if you can reach under where you mount it use ss bolta and i used oversized ss washers and nuts to give it more support underneath and you will be fine

The deck I am mounting it to is aluminum and I think it has wood under the aluminum. It is almost impossible to get under the deck in that plae to put bolts so I guess I will get the isolators since that is the way it came. Thanks for the help!
