I broke the clamp that holds the trolling motors on the mount of a Johnson trolling motor. This is the older model that is made to brake away rather than bending the shaft. I have had someone give me a mount with the clamp in good shape. How do I remove the pin from the one that is broken and also the one from the mount that is good? The mount that was given to me seems to be good. Would it be easier to put the mount on boat rather than try to get the pin out of the two and exchange the clamps?

i think you are talking about the clamp that has a t handle nob that screws to the other side and closes together around the shaft ? if so look for a hole on the rounded part where the cable goes there is a allen screw in this hole remove it and drive the pin out with a punch or something i think you will also have to loosen the cable a little . i hope this is helps

Found the allen screw, took it out, loosened the cable, drove the pin out and replaced the old clamp with the replacement and adjusted the cable and works like new.

Thanks for your help!
