If you are having your trolling motor rope break a couple of times per year, here is a way to extend the life of your rope. Go to your nearest hardware store and buy a short length of tygon tubing that your trolling motor rope will go through. Thread it through the tygon tubing, attach it to your motor, tape the rope and tygon tubing with electrical tape to keep the tygon tubing from slipping and you are all set. The pics can explain better than I can type.

Thats a clever little fix ther Dickie ! thanks for the info........It`s about time for mine to break...I thinke I`ll beat it to the punch.

Thanks for the info! That is a neat little trick. I had one break at night when I was on the water, with NO light of course. Had a bugger of a time getting it out of the water.

I usually replace that cheap rope that comes on them with a similar sized Nylon rope from a hardware store. I never have had the replacement rope fail. You would think as much as trolling motors cost they would put a decent rope on them.
