Does anyone know if you can change the shaft on trolling motors I have a motor guide tour 24v 71# thrust. It was on my boat when I bought it and it's way too long. It's a good trolling motor and i can fight the wind in my little boat with all the thrust but it's entirely too long just curious if anyone knows of you can change the shafts and if you can does anyone know where I could go have it done?

it can be done but you may come out cheaper just to buy a used tm with a shorter shaft. there are 82lb thrust tour edition motors out there for reasonable prices. any motorguide factory authorized repair facility can make the shaft swap. don't know of any around here though, I need one though

Can u not lift motor & have more to top than all being below boat nose.... emoGeezer emoUSA

Ok thanks. I'm debating on buying a new one. That's what I've been doing strato-g but I've forgotten to lower it back down during hauling and almost took a few side mirrors off. Haha
