Bought an old motorguide 24v 70 lb trolling motor. Got wiring on boat corrected where the switch changes voltage from 24 to 12 and reverse. Will it hurt to run it on 12 volt sometimes? Or is that just for charging?

If the motor was designed as a 12/24 v you will be fine, I can't say personally I have ever heard of a 24 v tm

No such thing as a 12/24v trolling motor anymore, They are either 12,24 or 36v.

Can you give a little more detail on your wiring. You mentioned the t/m and then charging. I'm not sure but 12V at your t/m may not be your only issue. If you have a 24V motor, you need to use 24 volts.
