I have been looking fo a crappie style boatfor a while and finally bought a Alumacraft 16 ft classic deluxe....I was looking for something I would have a harde time falling out of than the 20ft Bullet I usually fish out of in the winter crappie fishing by myself in the winter here on Tellico mostly. I think the Alumacraft will do what I want but I`m definitely going to find a different troller. It has a MG Bill Dance edition foot control...30lbs thrust and 36 inch shaft. It has 5 different places to move the seats ...the ones up front are a little cramped for my Big Butt and the foot control. The limited foot control ....I operated with my hand the other day when I tried it out the first time..really no way to use your feet much. I`m thinking I want one with cord control foot peadl where I can move it around in the boat. The only thing I`m finding a Minn Kota powerdrive. I remember when they first came out the drive motor didn`t last long...the steering drive motor. I found onewith 55Thrust and 45 inch shaft and the capability to add the Bluetooth control if I should decide to add it. It was at one of the ...actually it was 45 lb thrust...for 540$ ...at an Outlet store online. I guess my question is have they gotten the drive motors to last....I would guess they must have to be better than they were or they wouldn`t still be selling them. Any reviews you `all might have would be appreciated. The variable speed control and movable foot control is a requirement. Ididn`t find anything in Motorguide except the wireless and the reviews were not good on the wireless part of it . Any Info and suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry for all the errors in the script.....safari really sux ....why use it ?

I had a powerdrive on my first bass boat and it was still running strong (over six year old) when it gotted ripped off my brothers pontoon boat. Not good in the grass, but other than that no problems.

Sounds like you're building a real nice rig, Snuffy. May be overkill and definitely high dollar, but the new MK Ultrex sounds like a neat deal. Be careful out there, pal!

Oh yeah John I`d like have one them you tell to "stay" and go fix a sandwich but can`t justify 1/2 of what I paid for the boat for aa Troller...hell some of them cost almost what I paid for it ! And yes Rod the Johnson can`t be beat but I haven`t found one with a long cord and constant "on " button. I`ve had 2 bassboats and 2 Johnson Trollers over the last 30 plus years. The one on the Bullet is 24 years old and I haven`t even had to change the steering cable on it .
Just need the mobility of the foot pad and 45-55 lb of thrust will be plenty ! Thanks guys !

Sounds like the Terrova or Ulterra are kind of "light" versions of the the Ultrex and may get you what you need. Step over to the BBC trolling motor board and get with the mod, John Jones. He's pretty good about giving straight info. Hope to see you up in the creeks pretty soon.
