does anybody know the regulations on a trotline at harrison bay.i kept getting hung up in one.it was strung almost all the way across the swirls.

I know they do have a regulation on length, I think it was somewhere around 20 or 30 feet? The hooks also have to be seperated 2 feet apart i think.

are they suppose to have flots on them to let you know where they are so you dont get hung up in them.i will probably cut there line if i get all hung up in them again.it was all wrapped up around my anchor didnt even know it was there.

Nope, i was wrong. You cant have a trot line no more than 100 hooks per main line. They still have to be spaced 2 feet apart, so i guess you can have a trot line up to 200 feet long. They cannot be placed within 100 yards of the mouth of any river, creek, or slough though.

thanks for the info.it was windy the day i went and it blew us all over the place it took forever to get the trotline off of my anchor.

There isnt anything I hate more than a strictly only bass fisher that cuts ur trotlines. I have had several cut and they left the spinner and rat-l-traps in them. Good for me to get free stuff but with the work that goes into setting a line and marking it just cant stand it.

there isnt anything i hate more than a trot line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not to mention a trot line right smack dab in the middle of a great bass fishing area in the middle of the day. emoBadLanguage

Easy there killer. Would you rather have a trotline or a GILL NET in your area. A trot line is definately the lesser of the two evils.

Have to agree with Minner on this one.

not too many gill nets anymore. Most commercial fishermen have found other things to do since they can't sell fish from the TN river anymore. Whatever happened to the clean air and water act? Fining polluters dosn't clean the water.
(sorry-a l m o s t off thread there)emoRolleyes

I got in a trotline last weekend on the flats at bennets lake. Sure caused alot of trouble. It was not marked and I would think if someone put one across a popular Bass fishing area as that is, their expecting it to get cut. NO I did'nt cut it but I might have if thats what it took to get my $8 lure back.

Here Here GB! Cut away.
