I wrote a response and then decided to delete it. I do not trust anything ABC writes, I will leave it at that.

Look who wrote the article, ABC, anything they write to bash Trump is just about not worth the paper it is written on. Some of the items they put into that bill were far over reaching. Just ask anyone who might of owned land near some waterway, (which could have just been a little trickle of water in a small creek) they went to build on it only to be told they could not due to government restrictions. Some of that needs to be pulled back. Yes I voted for Trump. Let's see what they do before we all get on board the Bash Trump Train on this one. emoThumbsup Jmax

I find that the local ABC channel 9, owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group has a well know clear conservative bent.

Well crap, was too late to delete it. I find anything ABC puts out when it comes to Trump always has a slant to it to either bash Trump or put a spin on it so he looks bad. I guess we all have a right to our own opinion of this one. emoRolleyes Jmax

Isn't Obama's clean water rule still in litigation. The main problem with it was the vague language, so even though the EPA said they would not abuse their power, the rule was in writing and I don't trust the government enough to believe some things. Then they said many farms would be on a case by case basis...would that change every time a front field flooded or when the farmer decided to fertilize?

Jmax... just to be clear, if it appears on NewsChannel 9's Outdoors page (as this does), 9 times out of 10, "ABC" is me (note byline on story). Just sayin'... emoBigsmile

I'm not faulting your opinion or anyone else's opinion. I will just use this as an occasion to point out that mass generalizations regarding "the media," or various networks... often really boils down to a single individual versus institutional discrimination. If you have some reading time, this Blog is a great illustration of how news is really produced in LOCAL newsrooms: http://www.mediamavenandmore.com/media-expert-online/

This story might raise the ire of many of the fishermen and hunters who voted for Trump: http://bit.ly/2meL3gP

Hopefully the closing line(s) are accurate.

Take time and research what Trump is doing before you fear monger on CFF. He is not wanting to dump waste into our streams and rivers. He is doing away with EPA regulations that are to far reaching. Our President is for Sportsmen and protecting our resources.

The title "EPA" is misleading. They don't always protect the environment. The local arm of the EPA, known as TDEC was the group pushing for the bill that passed 4 years ago that allowed any certified pesticides applicator to spray for Grass in chickamauga or any other lake in the state under a single blanket permit, rather than having to apply for individual permit. This has allowed there to be much more herbicide/ pesticides to be sprayed into our source of drinking water. The EPA doesn't always protect the environment and I have felt they needed to be cut out long before I knew Trump was involved in politics.

Richard, no offense meant but in this case I do not agree. As Davo and Churly have also said, I do not trust the EPA or the government enough to just say anything they do with the Clean Water Act is correct and in the best interest of the people. Again as I stated above the governing EPA folks can be over reaching and self empowering. Give the Trump folks a chance and lets see where this goes. emoGeezer Jmax

Trust us they said......its only for defoiling the jungle. It is NOT harmful to your health. Circa......1965-1971.

I find it hard it hard to believe that any president would want to poison our drinking water, or sign an EO that would allow that. I have seen first hand the way the state arm of the EPA works, and it doesn't always rule in the public's best interest. What I find somewhat disturbing here is the author's sensationalized headline, specifically the word "assault". From the responses, I can see that he turned a legal issue into an emotional issue and you all bit. That's what the media does, and they all do it to promote their own agendas. In the West they call that "riding for the brand".

As someone who deals with the CWA on a daily basis, I can tell everyone that this is a prime example of rule that needs to be rewritten. It conflicts within itself at so many places that it is practicably unenforceable.

Let me be direct... I voted for Trump. I clearly felt that his political agenda far more closely matched my own personal beliefs.

That said, I do believe the man is a megalomaniac (a person obsessed with their own power). I believe he overstepped his bounds on the Executive Order regarding immigration and the courts shot him down. I suspect the same might occur in this case.

I honestly believe that the most proper position for the EPA lies somewhere in between the extremes that the two sides espouse... judicious protection of the environment balanced with reasonable free enterprise. And I believe that our system of Democracy, including three branches of government ... Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Judicial Branch ... will ultimately properly balance all such issues.

But sometimes it is a VERY slow and painful process. emoGrouphug

I voted for Trump also. And I believe that anyone who seeks to be leader of the free world is a megalomaniac; none more evident than the previous "leader". It's my understanding that the issue with the EO regarding immigration was a matter of semantics and choice of venue to test it. The suit was brought in the San Francisco district Federal Court which, imo, was a court that may have been less than impartial.

The Executive branch o our government does not pass legislation. So, in reality, to say Trump is doing this or Obama did that is inaccurate. Proper use of a democratic government will balance all such issues, and also imo, term limits would go far to speed up the process. Just saying.

Going back to the original post, perhaps the headline could have been that the EO seeks to "re-address some issues...." rather than use a trigger (pun intended) like the word "assault".

Btw, each and every one of the signors mentioned in that article are executives of special interest groups which certainly have an agenda of their own; they employ powerful lobbyists to promote those agendas and certainly don't speak for anyone but their memberships. emoGeezer

Personally I could care less about the wall or what he does with immigration. But I do care about our environment and waterways as most outdoorsman should. I am afraid he will take on the money is more important than anything else approach and open up all regulations designed to protect our resources so the big corporations can have free reign.
