A question:

Do you think that these might work around the Riverpark? I'm tying several of these jigs to fish in midwestern streams. I may head down to Chattanooga in September and wonder if bringing some of these along to fish will be worth my while.

They're tied to avoid rock snagging (fingers crossed). ;)

Rubber bands that are used for teeth braces may help make them more weedless. Around the eyelet and hooked on the barb. It helps some! That bait looks good to me, a new look for the fish. Good luck.

They look great and I'm sure would be effective.  One thing to consider would be whether you are willing to donate some to the rip-rap gods.  They demand a sacrifice especially when the current is strong.

Thanks, MadBomber. One of the things that I've considered is how snag-free the lure could be. As a matter of fact, I fish my tube baits the way you suggest in one of your posts with egg sinker, bead, and an appropriate hook. I've found that I can fish tubes in rocky areas with the hook point exposed and encounter a minimum of hangups using your setup.

I've designed these jigs to have the distance closed between the hook point and the jig body. This jig is designed to mimic short, fat tube baits rigged as you've suggested. The body is relatively soft and compressible. My first test of these on a rocky river provided me with encouraging results. However, I had to make a few tying improvements with regard to securing the jig's body.

This jig is designed to fish like a tube rigged your way. Will it avoid all hangups? Probably not. However, I'm confident that the amount of snagging will be minimized for rocky, riverine areas.

Thank you all for your input.
