Got some questions about turkey hunting with a bow. When you shoot the bird in the body is it hard to find the arrow? Or if you shoot them in the neck is it hard to find them? And when you shoot throught the blind windows does the arrow deflect off the mark? Not plannin on buyin new arrows till deer season and so im not wanting to loose my arrows.

Anytime you release an arrow in the woods you stand the chance of loosing breaking it. I haven't shot a turkey with a bow but I know that shooting arrows from the ground you have a harder time of finding them than from a treestand. Also most standard broadheads will shoot fine through mesh but you should test it to be sure.

If you shoot them in the neck you'll be using a style broadhead that can't be shot through mesh.

Yeah. I turkey hunt with G5 Montecs. And i know theres a risk every time you release an arrow of loosing or breaking it. And from a tree stand the arrow sticks into the ground and the fletches normally stick up. On the grounds it different. But I aint shot my bow at a turkey or at any game on the ground. Every game on the ground i shot at was at an angle and my arrow was sticking up. But the only thing is i only have 2 arrows that aint split or lost (yet) and im wanting to hold off on buying new ones as long as i can cause of the price they are.

Bow hunting for any animal is like fishing...your gonna loose and break gear. In this case arrows. As long as your not shooting expandables, shooting through mess will not bother your trajectory. Neck shots are very difficult, but extremely effective. It you hit the bird, its gonna die. Good luck, and I hope you kill a monster with your bow!

Just go buy cheap Walmart arrows. After practice they will just as acurate. I have shot a turkey with my bow and both times the bird jumped up flapping and the arrow just kinda fell out a was laying on the ground. Don't aim for the neck unless you are shooting guilotenes.

I like neck shots if you are comfortable with them. I busted one a week ago about an inch below where the neck connects to the chest and it dropped like a rock with two small kicks. It is a very quick kill on a bird, but it can be a difficult shot to make. I will take it every time if the opportunity is there and yes arrow straight through without even slowing down. No arrow was found afterwards, but as long as you get a quick kill and get to take your kill home thats fine with me. Its the miss and lost arrow that makes me cry.

oh yea i forgot to say I was shooting an old used rage that had been cleaned up and resharpened. It worked fine.

You have to pay to play. I dont mean to be a smart arse, Im kinda in the same boat as you come fall... After lots of practicing with my new arrows I buy in July, im scratching by come rifle season. I just use a shotgun most of the time though.
