Has anyone tried the Federal 3rd Degree shells? If not, your best performing 12 gauge load for thunder chickens.

Thanks. Going to try Federal 3rd Degree and the Winchester’s. I have seen good patterns from both on-line. Cannot use ported choke with 3rd Degrees because they will tear wad. They recommend a Carlson Long Range waterfowl choke. Sure others are good too. Thanks.

Ive killed 3 with the third degree shells using a ported kicks gobbling thunder choke tube. The farthest was 55 yards

Too funny. “A typical ported turkey choke will strip the wad”. A guy was having problems with his Benelli Nova using a Kicks Gobbling Thunder (.665)
Slows the wadding down while stripping it from the shot considerably. Carlson’s actually does the testing for Frderal ammo. Thanks for input.

Federal responded. There is a “new” 3rd degree” that is good with all chokes. It states so just under the turkey on the box. I have not been able to find the new ones. I can forward email to you if you so desire.

3.5" Longbeard XR's with Patternmaster Code Black Turkey. Would never shoot at a live bird that far, but 100+ in 10" at 65yds.

40yds is just devastating.

Also you might wanna look up rob Roberts he makes chokes and they are wicked I have a waterfowl choke of his and it is deadly. He is also works on guns dips them and modifies them. There is guys I know that shoots 20ga with his choke and is killing turkeys at 50-55 yards.

I havent tried the 3rd degree yet but I did get ahold of the Federal Heavyweight TSS shells, #9 shot, at 45 yards theres not much of a target left. We'll see come saturday how they do.

I've used the triplex- 3.5" 5/6/7 loads. It is a brutal hit both on the turkey and your shoulder if you use an 870 pump like me.
