I've been putting in for a GA gator tag for 5 years now. Four priority points and I'm finally successful. However amongst my excitement and planning, I can't help but notice something. The deadline for applying for the hunt was 07/31/14, I received an email from GA DNR this morning 08/02/14. Two days! What the hell is wrong with TWRA? They can't get computer draws up in 2 or even 4 weeks! In the times we live in TWRA should be at the top of the game. We pay a premium for our license to not draw out of the general fund and personally I think that should make the organization better than any other but obviously they aren't.

Try asking your reps to get a state income tax. That might help. Yes I'm joking. Georgia could learn from Tennessee by getting rid of some of the taxes. We have a "luxury tax" to own a boat and the majority of people live closer to other State lakes than Georgia. When I moved to Georgia I could see the tax money being used to keep roads up and other things. Now every time the state or local government gets the chance to form a tax or raise taxes they do. I think there will be a movement back into Tennessee for border living residents in the near future if it continues. Tax, tax ,tax is all they know. The middle class is approaching poverty in many households due to this.

I think his complaint is TWRA is twenty years behind many other agencies with their website and ability to use technology for drawings.
Alabama's web site is far more user friendly and better than TWRA. Georgia's is much better too.

Hey TWRA!!!!! Communication is a two way street. You should be offering information, on your websites, updated weekly for your customers rather than make us go looking for it.

That's why I hunt ky. Short rifle season, long bow season and a 1 buck rule. I'll hunt tn, but I agree TWRA is not what you would expect with the highest in state license fees in the country....

Wish the other southern states would catch up to TWRA and get a smartphone app. Thought they would have one by now. TWRA has had their's for over a year. It's all I need to renew my licenses, permits, and boat registration.

How much extra does TWRA charge you to buy your license via the internet? And now the beloved Senator Alexander wants to tax all internet sales.

TWRA only gets the license fee. The extra charge goes to the company that processes the transaction. It's a transaction fee that all states charge when purchasing licenses online. Sorry for interruption of the bash TWRA thread, please continue.

I don't believe TWRA even gets all the license fee regardless of where you buy it. The company that supplies the machines to the vendors that sell the licenses get a portion of the revenue. At least that's the rumor.

Yes that's right, they get a license agent fee for each license sold. So one dollar goes to agent, and $27 goes to TWRA for a combo license. $28

Yes, that is correct. The store that sells the license gets a license agent fee for each license sold. So one dollar goes to agent, and $27 goes to TWRA for a combo license. $28

I paid a $2.50 agent fee when I bought my Georgia fishing license by comparison.

They don't even get all the $27. The company that supplies the sales machine gets a portion of that $27. There is a company that handles the license sales for about 20 states. They own the machines.
