I took a shot at a 6 this morning and I found a bunch of white fur and some blood, the deer layed there for a bit and got up and ran off and I never could find it. The blood was bright red and it stopped after about 30yds. This is only the 2nd deer I have ever shot but sucks I couldn't find him. I was using a muzzleloader(Land owners preference) and forgot my caps so couldn't get another shot off..... emoBang emoBawl Well maybe another day!!!

If you could get some buddys and spread out got distance but still see on another, you could probably find that deer.

It's dead! That is where your tracking skills start when the blood ends. I would say that deer is within 100 yds of where you could not find the rest of the blood trail. Down hill in the first downed tree or thicket buried up. Go to where you last saw blood and stand there and just look at the direction the deer was heading. Think down hill and path of least resistance to cover. Many times a young deer will try to follow a deer trail. If you can find a trail, follow that out. If all else fails get yourself a mutt dog and put it on the blood trail and let it lead you to your deer.

I pride myself in finding shot deer. I have had some rediculous situations where the deer was found. Believe it or not Tracking is just as fun if not more fun than actually pulling the trigger.
