Ok.. I finally got a new fish finder. I have a V-hull boat that already has a fish finder on it.. It has a Humminbird Wide eye in the back. This unit is VERY outdated and that was the while purpose of buying a new one.

I now have the Humminbird 141C..

Question..

Do I flat out replace the old with new...

OR...

Mount the new fish finder in the front and enjoy 2 on the water?

I really like having one on the front of the boat and one at the console. I use it for locating new structure and fish then I use the one on the front (trolling motor mounted) to stay on what I have found when I am fishing. Just makes it easier and when looking around you can cover more water with the bigger motor than the trolling motor. Just my two cents.

I would run two, as long as your older unit is still functioning properly. I can't function without 2 makes it easier spotting structure and drop offs etc.

I'd run two. As Seth says, I want to know what's under me when I'm running. My in dash has seen better days too but as soon as I start the big motor, I turn it on. The other finder is mounted up front on the trolling motor and all I need to do is look down while I'm fishing. I'd say almost all us run two finders no matter what we fish for.

Get an updated one, put it on a mount and swivel it around when you are on the front of the boat. If the old one only works when it wants to, then it isnt dependable anyway.
