I put this on facebook, but also thought I would share here...

A special thanks to all who have asked about and prayed for me after my injury and surgery. I ruptured my left biceps tendon in early November (it was not election rage!) The only option to regain full strength in the arm was to undergo distal biceps tendon repair surgery to reattach the tendon, which I did in early December.
The procedure consists of an incision over the upper forearm and in my case, through the crease of the elbow and up into the part of the arm that houses the bicep. The retracted biceps tendon is retrieved through the incision. With the Endobutton technique the tendon end is actually buried inside the bone to create a strong repair. Strong sutures are threaded through the tendon in a specific interlocking way to ensure a strong repair of the tendon to the bone. The tendon is then fixed to bone with the Endobutton. It has been a rough road to hold, but I am now starting six weeks of strength therapy, and hopefully will be able to start using my left arm for more and more of its normal activities. I have been fortunate to already have nearly all of my range of motion back in that arm. Taffi has also gone above and beyond. If not for our nearly 23 years of marriage, we might not have survived this. When you depend on your spouse to bathe you, dress you, and help you pull up and button your pants, tensions tend to run high. Please keep both of us in your prayers, as the normal time to return to full strength is 8-12 months. As everyone can guess, I am dying to get back on the water, but that will come in due time.
