Wow it was foggy this morning! We hit the lake about 8am and it was totally socked in. Saw some guys at the ramp getting ready to go catfishing that had taken a trip with Rsimms and wanted to see if they could get back on them. We launched and moved a little upriver, but was kinda afraid to hit the main water with it being that foggy. We started fishing torpedos but could not buy a bite in the milfoil. We switched over to white buzzbaits and that was the ticket. My first fish was a 2lb 4oz, that blew up on it while I was fishing pretty fast. Mike then landed another that was almost the twin from the same spot. We continued to fish the weeds and points, covering a lot of the areas with numerous casts and not giving up until we got a strike. Final tally for the day, ALL on buzzbaits, was Mike, 6 fish, with one of them being a nice keeper a little over 2lbs and me with 18 fish, 2 being keepers. Forgot the dang camera on this trip! The minute the fog started to burn off the bite died for us. Fish were very shallow, 2 to 5 feet and water temps were 72 degrees, water was like glass. Fog didn't actually begin to burn off until about 11:30 so we had about 3.5 hours on the water. I'm not going to go into the details but Mike hooked up with a monster and lost him. This is the second day in a row for something like that. Very unusual to see big fish like that in the same place but I think some of the big lazy guys are moving in from the deep and gorging on baitfish in the shallows. Who knows, I might be off kilter with that idea but it just seems logical. As we were putting in we bumped into Tileman of the CFF putting out. Him and a buddy had decided to go hit it for a while. Hope to hear a post from him to see how they did. Regardless it was a HECK of a day on the ole Chick. We ended it with Bacon Cheese Burgers and Tater Tots at the BK diner in front of Central! I got to rib Mike all through lunch about how bad I beat him!
