What was I thinking? Cold and windy with the river white-capping. I fished under the dam seeking sauger - Nothing. Went over near the mouth of the creek at the drops looking for crappie- None. I did catch Two nice, fat spots at the barge tie up near the creek mouth. I thought I would load up on the spots - nope. I fished below railroad bridge, Down the Lupton City side of the river down to the Ramp and under the Market street bridge, Nothing else. The fish were just not eating. I did bring home the fat spots. They were about 3 and 2 lbs.

It was very hard to fish with the wind pushing so hard toward the bank. Gave up at about 4:30PM and headed for the house. The temps were supposed to be in the mid thirties however. With the wind, the chill factor was in the upper Twenties. If it was in the mid thirties then how could all that Ice have formed on my boat deck while I was fishing? I think I will let it warm up a bit or at least thaw the ice off my boat before i go back.

Had fun running in the white capping river.

emoThumbsup emoThumbsup Just for being out in those waves. The 2 good fish were an added bonus. The ice can be frustrating. Yesterday morning we had ice in our rod eyelets till sometime around 8:30 am.

Liveliner is either real smart.... or not real smart! Note the total lack of other 1-28-07 fishing reports. emoLaugh I was actually waste deep in a duck swamp all day. Once in the afternoon when it was screaming through the willows at about 30 mph, I told my buddy, "this is like a movie wind. You know, when they put in those 'howling wind' sound effects... except it's real." Duck hunting in it was bad enough... can't imagine being out trying to fish. And FYI, we stood in the duck swamp from well before sunrise to sunset.... 11 "hunting hours"... we killed two ducks in the last five minutes before sunset. emoBang The 2006-2007 duck season has ended.

Nuts ... Crazy FOLKS! No way could I have endured yesterdays weather to be outside trying to fish or duck hunt. But I'm a whimp when it comes to cold weather. I HATE it. And the lab is nice looking, it's head seems a little square and boxy for a full blood. Or it could just be the camera ... angle ... something else. I thought his head looked more like a New Foundlands, only with short hair! A New Foundland would have LOVED yesterdays weather .. and today's too.

My girls .. are like me .. whimps. They run out and p as quick and as close to the house as possible.

Those of you who did venture out yesterday .. and there weren't many because the boat ramps by my house were empty .. you are true sportsman and women.
